Global fiber market 82 million tons

At the press conference of the German Fiber Industry Association (IVC) in Frankfurt/Germany on May 11, 2012, Andreas Engelhardt (The Fiber Year GmbH, Speicher/Switzerland) and Lenzing AG, Lenzing/Austria, presented the global fiber market trends. In 2011 the total demand for fibers reached a new record high of 82 million tons (+2.4%) with an average per capita consumption of 11.8 kg of textile materials.
