Controlled polymerization and self-assembly of a supramolecular star polymer with a guanosine quadruplex core

A novel supramolecular star polymer is reported, which can be prepared either from atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of a self-assembled initiator or from self-assembly of a guanosine-capped linear polymer.rnThe rapid growth in the area of materials technologies requires the development of new methodologies for the synthesis and fabrication of complex polymer architectures. Among' these new materials, star-type polymers have shown promise in the area of bioactive delivery. Typically, star polymers are prepared using a divergent approach from multi-functionalized or dendritic initiators. When the core is held together by non-covalent interactions, the ensemble is known as a supramolecular star polymer.
