摘要

The combination of a red light PDT agent and a Pt(II)-based chemotherapeutic drug at the molecular level maintains the intrinsic functions of each unit; the conjugated complexes exhibit remarkable photocytoxicity and demonstrate potential to serve as agents for DNA-targeting PDT as well as red light photochemotherapy.rnTargeted intracellular delivery and selective activation of anticancer drugs are highly desired to achieve enhanced drug efficacy as well as reduced side effects and toxicity. Photo-dynamic therapy (PDT) is currently one of the most important modalities for the treatment of different cancers. In a PDT process, reactive oxygen species (ROS) are generated by localised optical activation of cancer-targeting photosensitizers and cause selective destruction of tumor tissues. The application of novel red light PDT agents has demonstrated great potential in cancer treatment since deep tissue penetration of irradiation and low phototoxicity can be attained.
