The preparation of highly hydrophobic and stable MIL-53(Al) nano-materials was achieved by an ionothermal synthesis strategy. The hydrophobicity of MIL-53(Al)_(It) was studied by water adsorption; and the enhancement in this property was discussed with respect to its reference to MIL-53(Al)_(ht).
