An octanuclear copper(Ⅱ) complex possessing a dimer-of-tetramers structure self-assembles from a binuclear oxamato-copper(Ⅱ) metallacryptand of the meso-helicate type; its magnetic behaviour is consistent with its unique double-propeller molecular topology.
