Three new one-dimensional coordination polymers [Zn_8S(SC_6H_5)_(14)centre dot C_(12)H_(10)N_2](1),[Zn_7CoS(SC_6H_5)_(14)centre dot C_(13)H_(14)N_2](2)and [Zn_8S(SC_6H_5)_(14)-C_(13)H_(14)N_2](3)have been prepared containing penta-supertetrahedral clusters and linear crosslinking dipyridyl ligands;the two complexes show optical transitions with band gaps of approx3.44 eV(1)and approx3.54 eV(2).
