The resonant inspection method is now available as an inexpensive off-the-shelf instrument for quality control of advanced ceramic products. Nondestructive inspection (NDI) is becoming increasingly more important in advanced ceramics manufacturing. In the past manufacturers could ship parts "as is," and the customer would identify and discard defective parts. Now customers are demanding high-quality, just-in-time shipments. Suppliers who can't meet quality demands lose market share.
