Airless Drying Improves Productivity and Reduces Energy

Anovel drying technology has been developed by British re-searchers that can result in significant energy savings. By eliminating the use of air, except for carrying out the warm-up phase of each process, the patented airless drying method saves from 20-50% of conventional thermal energy used in drying processes. After the warm-up phase, superheated steam is used to transport heat from one or more indirect heaters to the moist material, while the resulting steam is vented. Up to 90% of the reduced amount of thermal energy used for drying can then be reused at a useful temperature.
