The Butterfiles of St. Vincent, the Grenadines, and Grenada

The total number of butterfly species form the southern Lesser Antillean islands of St. Vincent, The Grenadines, and Grenada, is now known to be at least 57; at least 35 species are now known From the Genadines (15 species previously reported). Phoebis philea, Eurema lisa, Vanessa virginiensis, and Lycorea cleobaea are reported from these southern islands for the first time. The name Proteides mercurius Grenadeniss Pinchon and Ehrico is shown to be a recognizable taxon. The occurance of Urbanus teleus and Ministrymon azia on Grendada is confirmed. The butterfly fauna of the Grenadines has stornger affinities With Grenada rather than with St. Vincent.
