More Trials On Tap For NFC

The phones will not be in stores anytime soon and the business case remains in doubt, but the interest in NFC is palpable, with a spate of new trials planned. Card Technology learned in mid-October that important pilots of the contactless technology for mobile phones and other devices would be launched before the end of the year in France and the United States, among other places. (See chart below). One or more of these trials were to be announced at the Cartes exhibition and conference this month in Faris. They add to the growing list of trials launched since last year, from Shanghai to Atlanta.
