Qatar's move towards eID cards has taken another step forward with the country's first citizens being enrolled for the biometric-based smart cards - being supplied by Gemalto. Mads RØnnebro, director, regional sales, Middle East & Africa, of one of the suppliers to the project, Precise Biometrics, told CTT. "The systems integrators, ProtechT, have told us that enrolment started at the beginning of October, and a few thousand citizens will be enrolled each month.
