The Australian Clean Energy Regulator, an independent statutory authority responsible for administering legislation to reduce carbon emissions and increase the use of clean energy, has recently approved 19 new projects under the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI). The CFI is a project-based, baseline-and-credit offset scheme for emissions and removals from the land use, land use change and forestry, agriculture and waste sectors. The Australian carbon credit units gained in this scheme can be sold to people and businesses aiming to offset their emissions.
