Nestling in the glorious Somerset countryside, just a few minutes from the A3O3, is the Haynes International Motor Museum at Sparkford. I attended the opening of the original museum back in July 1985. At that time, it was located on the site of an old sawmill and housed just 33 vehicles, which were donated by the publishing company's founder and chairman, John H Haynes OBE.The museum was established as a charitable trust to ensure that it would remain in perpetuity as a national collection. It was also intended that the museum would have educational value, providing an insight into the ongoing development of cars and engineering.
