It was the gently growing rumble of Bollnders, Gardners, Russell Newberys and Nationals grumbling into life along the packed banks of the Oxford in the early morning which indicated that this year's Braunston Historic Narrowboat Rally would be something special. Not only was the weather set fair, but a record-breaking 84 historic boats had moored up, making it the largest gathering of working boats at any rally since the end of the working days on the canals.rnWherever you looked there were boats of all sizes dressed in venerable liveries that had converged from all parts to celebrate the heritage of the canals at the seventh annualrnHistoric Narrowboat Rally.
