ExCeL defies the gloom

For the second year running the London International Boat Show featured narrowboats and other inland craft in their natural element - outside in Victoria Dock adjacent to the exhibition halls at ExCeL.rnGiven the economic situation it would have been surprising to hear that this year's London International Boat Show was all sweetness, light and optimism for the future. But despite the general feeling that the industry faces a tough year ahead, it wasn't all doom and despondency among the inland waterways exhibitors. Yes, there was a 12 per cent drop in attendance, but on the other hand there was a feeling among some of the exhibitors that those who were serious about buying or hiring a boat still showed up.
