Until Recently, The system of channels in East London usually known as the Bow Back Rivers was split into two. Firstly the non-tidal channels - St Thomas' Creek, City Mill River and part of the Old River Lee -which form a loop leaving the Lee Navigation by Bow Bridge and returning below Old Ford Locks; secondly the tidal channels accessed by passing through Bow Locks and turning left: the Abbey Creek, Prescott Channel, Three Mills Wall River and Waterworks River.
