FISHING FORA PERMIT

Q My daughter has given me some fishing equipment for my 60th birthday and I would like to use it while on our narrowboat. I have an Environment Agency permit that I understand relates to the equipment but have been told I need to pay for further permits if I actually want to use it! While out on our boat we have seen small notices along the towpath indicating who has the fishing rights and saying that 'day permits' are available. However, as a passing visitor it is generally not clear how we are meant to get hold of these permits.
