1 What first attracted you to the canals?rnBig ships on the Manchester Ship Canal passing the bottom of our street and the Bridgewater Canal which also passed through our village.rn2 Which is your favourite waterway?rnAlthough I now live by, and love, the Trent & Mersey, it has to be the old Shropshire Union network and specifically the Montgomery Canal.rn3 What led you to become involved with the canals?rnA holiday, suggested by my wife Beryl, so I can blame her. Family members did, however, work on the waterways.
