Surprise joint award for MPs

Two members of parliament have been jointly presented with the Inland Waterways Association's Parliamentarian of the Year award. IWA Chairman Clive Henderson said: "We couldn't split the differencernbetween the two." Derby North's Labour MP Bob Laxton, Chairman of the All-party Parliamentary Waterways Group for 15 years, shares the award with Lichfield's Tory MP Michael Fabricant, a keen supporter of the Lichfield & Hatherton restoration and a firm believer in gaining a cross-party consensus on waterways support.
