MPs' cash fears

The latest body to add its voice to the chorus of concern about funding for the new charity is the all-party parliamentary waterways group of 20 mps and lords, whose recent report says bluntly that 'the level of funding proposed is insufficient to meet the needs of the new waterways charity'. The group recommends three government actions to narrow the annual gap of between f15m and £45m: index-linking the annual funding contract; taking on existing bw pension liabilities; and a one-off start-up grant to cover the costs of creating charitable income streams over the first five years.
