Huw Williams loves boats. The 26-year-old grew up near Birkenhead, has his own gig and has always been interested in engineering, but particularly to do with boats. Although he had no any formal practical wood or metalwork skills, he had developed a real grasp of all aspects through his own hobbies, but what he really wanted was a chance to work on boats and gain proper training and qualifications. His drive and enthusiasm paid off, and he's now drilling, sanding, painting, hammering, nailing, gluing and riveting as a trainee on the Keeping History Afloat -Traditional Boat Building Skills for the Future course at Ellesmere Port's National Waterways Museum (NWM).
