Boating terms can be like a foreign language to folks on the bank, as can the concept of living on a boat all year round. One word that rolls off the tongue nicely is "gongoozlers", apparently coined in the early 1970s for an "idle spectator", particularly beside canals. We are often asked questions about our boat and way of life by gongoozlers. Usually it is "where do you come from?", "is it cold in winter?" etc. Recently we had some rather different questions thrown at us by some young people who seemed most interested in our sleeping arrangements. "How do you sleep?", "have you got beds?" "how do you have sex on a boat?". The latter question was fielded by the Skipper!
