Royal reopening for Stroud

The princess royal is seen cutting the ribbon to declare open the new Stroud Brewery Bridge. Hundreds braved the bitterly cold weather to see the Princess open the new Canal Centre before boarding the Cotswold Canals Trust's trip boat Perseverance to cruise through the restored Wallbridge Upper Lock and under the new bridge. This carries the A46 over the canal and removes one of the most serious blockages on the length from Stonehouse to Brimscombe, being restored with over £20m of funding from the Lottery, Regional Development Agency, Stroud District Council, Cotswold Canals Trust and others.
