Property professional and canal boater malcolm naish has been chosen by the Canal & River Trust and Secretary of State for the Environment to monitor the Trust's investment strategy. As part of the switch from the formerly nationalised British Waterways system to CRT, a portfolio of investment property worth approximately £1/2bn (which provides around one third of the waterways' total income through commercial rentals) was transferred to the new charity.
