Conquering severn fears

For many years the river severn was my bete noire. Cruising downstream in 2002 on our share boat Twelfth Night, the river was running fast. I nearly fell in as we moored at one of the pubs, then, when it came to turning into the locks up to Diglis Basins, we carried on down the river broadside. The Skipper's skill eventually brought the boat around and we entered the bottom lock with relief.
