£10m grants for towpaths

Urban towpaths in Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester are to benefit from £10m of upgrading work thanks to a series of grants from the Department for Transport's City Cycle Ambition scheme. The improvements cover the Ashton Canal, part of the Leeds & Liverpool, the BCN Main Line, Grand Union, Birmingham & Fazeley and Worcester & Birmingham (pictured). The work will include resurfacing, installing access ramps, and some repairs to canal banks which should make mooring easier.
