One of the aspects of living and cruising the waterways is that you meet and easily befriend other boaters. You can't help but chat to a fellow moorer with the ideal opener of asking to share their mooring ring, or whilst working together through a lock flight. Living on land you might perhaps get to know your neighbours well and maybe others to smile and nod hello to. Dog walking and children open the door to other acquaintances but whether you live in a village, town or city, making a life-time friend can be difficult.
