摘要

Q My boat was rewired some 30 years ago using stuff available at that time, including Lucas terminals and some Lucas marine fittings. Shortly after this was completed I needed to use cabling left on the boat (copper multicore flexible) and was surprised how far down the insulated cable a black deposit appeared on the copper surface. How much, if any, resistance would this deposit cause? One or two of the push-on Lucas (blade) terminals have corroded and need replacing. One is to the oil pressure switch and is covered in oil, so getting a good soldered joint is not realistic and I am thinking of crimping them. Since crimping is a compressed joint there is bound to be a gap, however small, between the conductor wire and the surrounding terminal. How much resistance might this create? Will it generate heat resulting in the evidence of overheating (scorch marks) on the terminals?
