When Judy Jukes and Bruce Measures visited the Crick Show in 2013 to look at boats, they had no idea that just a year later their own boat would be on display. "Getting our boat was always on the agenda," says Judy, "we just hadn't planned for it to happen so soon." That visit to Crick did cement their ideas on layout and builder, though. They saw a boat built by JD Narrowboats which had an extended cabin, no well deck and a large bed at the bow. "I'm 6ft 5in tall," says Bruce, "so a big bed was on the list of essentials." Then Judy's mother died suddenly, which prompted the couple to get on with having their boat built. By the time the August Bank Holiday weekend came around, they were putting in their order.
