THE TWO TRIAL berths set up as London's first pre-pay bookable visitor moorings are booking up fast for the coming spring and early summer - and the Canal & River Trust is already looking at rolling the idea out to other sites. Established in response to boaters' concerns that if they visited London they would struggle to find somewhere to tie up, the berths at Rembrandt Gardens, Little Venice, attracted 62 bookings in the first four weeks. Of these 44 were leisure boaters with home moorings on the CRT network (mostly in the south- east), 13 were continuous cruisers with no home berth, three were trade boaters and two were visiting from non-CRT waters. Most booked for the maximum of seven days (at £10 per day) and, as we went to press, May and June were already close to fully booked.
