The Pocklington Canal Amenity Society has picked up £1,000 from the Aviva Community Awards thanks to the votes it received in an online poll. The money will go towards tools and materials to be used by volunteers restoring Sandhills Lock, PCAS's next project due to be started soon. Meanwhile an opening date has been set for the current restoration project, with two miles of restored canal from Melbourne to Bielby set to reopen to boats on 25 July, followed by a boat rally the following weekend 27-28 July.
