THE RETURN OF CRICK SHOW

Last year's Crick Boat Show was - like many things - a victim of the Coronavirus pandemic. This year too, the UK's main inland waterways boat show was unable to take its usual slot on the late spring bank holiday weekend. But it returned on a rescheduled date in late August. It was, of necessity, a somewhat pared-down event - the organisers felt that the lively music festival and beer festival that are regular features of the weekend couldn't take place under the circumstances, although there was gentler acoustic music in evenings in the beer tent. And the number of boatbuilders and boatfitters exhibiting brokerage boats on display. But almost all of the essential elements of the show were there: boats for sale; the historic boats; the chandlery, equipment, services and craft stalls; the seminars on boat ownership... oh yes, and we were there with our Canal Boat stand. And the visitors were there too, with good numbers on the first day even though it was a weekday, as our pictures show.
