The Canal & River Trust has launched its 'prospectus for London', highlighting what it sees as the ways that its waterways in the capital can contribute to "good growth, prosperity and wellbeing". These include: 1. "Grand Union Canal Quietway", the development of the towpath in West London as a walking and cycling route, based on a study which suggests that more than half of commuters using the River Lee towpath would have driven or taken public transport if the waterside route had not been available.
