Workboat fleet takes to the water

The last and heaviest of a fleet of four work boats is pictured being craned in to begin a new life on the Wey & Arun Canal following their purchase from waterways contractors Land & Water by restoration group the Wey & Arun Canal Trust.Our picture shows a 250-tonne crane using its 34m reach to lift the 19-tonne dredger into the canal's summit level at the recently rebuilt Compass Bridge. There it joined a tug and two 12-metre hopper barges which had already been lifted in.
