I have a Seamaster 820 with a BMC 1.8 engine. I thought a glow plug had failed with a short circuit (the cables had melted at crimps). But when I looked closely I noticed it was loose in the cylinder head and the carbon rod had sheared off. I can only see two ways of removing this: turn the engine and see if it shoots out or take off the cylinder head. If it is a head-off task, is it practical to just remove the head, drill/remove the plug then replace it with new gaskets etc. I did a couple of full decokes many years ago but am keen to avoid that.
