Since, for the most part, pre-manufactured disposable syringes are not filled where they are made, they often need to be transported to filling machines梩o be filled with the prescribed liquid drugs and medications?that may sometimes be located miles away. In such cases, ensuring that the sterile packaging used to protect the syringes keeps them safe from all possible contamination risks, while complying with all the stringent hygiene and sterility requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, is of paramount importance. Recendy, German pharmaceutical packaging supplier inova pharma systems, part of the industrial conglomerate OPTIMA Packaging Group, developed a turnkey machine line to manufacture hygienically perfect and sterile shipping packs especially for this purpose. "The convenience of ready-to-use syringes is becoming an ever-greater consideration today," says Michael Gais, inova's sales and marketing director. "We are keeping up well with these developments, and we have formed partnerships with syringe manufacturers, which are proving very fruitful."
