Food-and-beverage companies who claim they want to use more recycled-content packaging but are put off by unreliable supply may not have that excuse for much longer-thanks to a new compact, modular system for in-house manufacturing of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) developed by PTI Recycling Systems LLC, a subsidiary of the Holland, Ohio-based Plastic Technologies, Inc. (PTI)rnDesigned to address the fast-growing global demand for rPET, the LNOc system and process efficiently turns post-consumer PET containers into reusable food-grade resin, according to the company, which can be used across a broad range of blowmolding, injection-molding, and ther-moforming applications in a cost-effective way.rnOver the past two years PTI has been producing LNOc resins at its sister company Phoenix Technologies in Bowling Green, Ohio, but the new modular system-built in partnership with the Cranberry Township, Pa.-based Conair-will allow companies to incorporate commercially-proven rPET production right into their own facilities, requiring no more than 2,500 square feet of floorspace to accommodate the equipment.
