Low-cost DSL product has served telcos well, allowing them to drive penetration deeper across their footprints and narrow cable's lead in HSD market share. Yet it has failed to significantly dampen the appeal of competing cable HSD, permitting MSOs to maintain robust HSD growth and healthy ARPUs. In fact, for full-year'06, MSOs acquired about 47% of all new customers, up slightly (+40 bp) from the previous year.
