But to many corporate chiefs, the Securities & Exchange Commission chairman's agenda smacks of an extremist manifesto. Business is furious with his push to make it easier for shareholders to nominate directors to corporate boards, his plan to change the way mutual funds are governed, and his determination to oversee hedge funds. And Corporate America is going all out, lobbying Congress, the Administration, and other SEC commissioners to force the chairman to back down.
