This consumer-goods company isn't ahouse-hold name, but it should be, given a lineup ranging from Lysol cleaner to Clearasil acne cream. Competing against giants Procter & Gamble and Unilever, Reckitt Benckiser focuses on a few high-margin brands. It also churns out new products faster than its rivals. One example: an automatic air-freshener dispenser that lets users switch between different scents. Reckitt's 17.8% profit margins best P&G's 14%. Now it's moving into health care: Recent acquisitions include the makers of Strepsils throat lozenges, and Mucinex cold remedies.
