The recession is benefiting Avon Products (AVP) in at least one respect: It has been able to do more hiring, even as world unemployment rages. In March alone, the maker and No. 1 global direct marketer of beauty products saw a 47% jump in new U.S. sales representatives. The surge is also evident in other parts of the world.
