But as his administration's botched handling of the crisis became clearer, and infections and deaths mounted, research from the data firm Optimus found it activated two groups of voters who pose a threat to his presidency: Republicans for whom the coronavirus was the last straw, and Democratic and independent voters who don't always vote, but who tell pollsters that the pandemic will summon them off the couch into the voting booth come November.
