Facing the stagnation of the world nuclear capacity, the commitments of Kyoto, the chances of re-mobilising this technology in order to tackle the stakes of stabilisation of CO_2 emissions are assessed. The evolutionist economy of technical change offers a conceptual framework for the identification of factors of the incompatibility of nuclear technology with regard to the industrial, social and political environment in the majority of industrial economies. On the basis of this type of analysis, an examination of the conditions and chances for the re-launch of nuclear technology based on radical innovation designed to be in line with this environment is given.%Face à la stagnation de la capacité nucléaire mondiale, les engagements de Kyoto conduisent à s'interroger sur les chances de remobilisation de cette technologie pour faire face à l'enjeu de stabilisation des émissions de CO_2. L'économie évolutionniste du changement technique offre un cadre conceptuel pour identifier les facteurs d'inadéquation de la technologie nucléaire à son environnement industriel, social et politique dans la plupart des économies industrielles. Sur la base d'une telle analyse on s'interroge sur les conditions et les chances de relance de la technologie nucléaire à partir d'une innovation radicale qui serait conçue en fonction de cet environnement.
