October 5 — About 1637 EDT, a Piper Aerostar 602P (N326CW) departed from Kokomo Municipal Airport (OKK), Kokomo, Indiana, and crashed in a field about 3.6 mi. south of the airport. The airplane was destroyed by impact forces. The airline transport pilot was killed in the accident. The Aerostar was registered to Indiana Paging Network Inc., and was operated by the pilot under Part 91 as a business flight that was not operating on a flight plan. It was VFR for the flight when departing from OKK.
