By any objective measure, three of the definitive British buses of the past 35 years are the Leyland National, the Dennis Dart and the Optare Solo. These best-selling trendsetters share an engineering design pedigree. British automotive company Capoco Design — which also has international clients across five continents — helped develop the Dart and Solo and other contemporary products using experience its founder director gained at the start of his career as a mechanical engineering student with Leyland. Between 1994 and 2003, those two manufacturers earned over £1billion from selling nearly 12,000 low-floor buses designed with Capoco input.
