Greater glasgow was one of the key battlegrounds when bus services were deregulated in October 1986 and three years later experienced some of the highest profile casualties of the new regime.rnFifty years of restrictions prevented operators other than Glasgow Corporation and its successors from carrying local passengers within the city boundaries until 1982. With too many buses chasing a declining number of passengers, an uneasy public sector relationship between Strathclyde PTE and the Scottish Bus Group exploded into all-out war four years later when SBG launched extra buses on new services in competition with Strathclyde Buses, the PTE's arms' length bus operating company.
