It may have been delayed by two years, but The Busway-Cambridgeshire's guided bus route-has been open for business since 7 August, providing Britain with its biggest bus rapid transit (BRT) service yet and the world with its longest guided busway. Work started on the route - connecting Cambridge with the town of St Ives to the north, Addenbrooke's Hospital and Trumpington park-&-ride to the south-in March 2007 with an expectation that it would open in April 2009 and cost £150million. The final bill for the 40km (25mile) route - 25km (15.5mile) on segregated, mainly guided route over abandoned railway trackbed - is closer to £181million.
