In another part of Britain, the world's longest guided busway has now opened (at long last) and I am left wondering why the UK is the only country still pursuing this particular technology. In Germany, from where the idea of kerb-guided busways came, it is no longer on the menu (and now exists only in Essen) and it is really only found otherwise in Australia, where the O-Bahn in Adelaide (which has been knocked into second place by the Cambridgeshire project) like the Bradford, Crawley- Gatwick, Ipswich and Leeds examples involves driving on the left. Is there a clue there?
