Optare Direct's Rick Betton

Rick Betton, latterly head of sales operation Optare Direct, died on 19 March around two years after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. He was 57. He spent over 30 years in bus and coach sales, mainly to smaller operators, starting with Reeve Burgess, which subsequently became part of Plaxton. He later was general manager with EvoBus before joining Optare, then Mistral Bus & Coach and - following the end of a sales deal where Mistral handled Optare's smaller operator sales - returned to Optare in 2009 to head Optare Direct.
