Google Transit has a long way to go

A few months ago, prompted by the appearance of overall advertising buses in London, Buses brought news of the launch of Google Maps' public transport service. Its global coverage appeared a bit selective and patchy then, and it continues to be as I write this in January. You probably don't need to be reminded that Google is an American enterprise, but in case you do, your first click on to Google Transit will prompt a recorded voice that talks of 'routs', which you or I would (correctly?) pronounce as 'routes'.
